How Netherite armor works with trims
Use netherite when the armor needs weight, status, and durability. Because the base is nearly black with purple undertones, almost every bright trim material becomes readable.
Amethyst, gold, emerald, redstone, quartz, resin, and diamond all pop on netherite. Iron and netherite trim are quieter and better for stealth or monochrome outfits.
Netherite is expensive, so preview the trim first before spending rare templates. It is the safest base for Silence, Ward, Spire, Vex, Snout, and other prestige combos.
Best armor trims for Netherite armor
Ranked by how well the pattern actually reads on a Netherite base — contrast first, theme second. Every pick opens in the 3D editor.
-
Silence + Amethyst
The set everyone recognises. Amethyst is the only material with enough saturation to glow against netherite's near-black without going bright, and Silence's sculk-like curves suit the darkest armor in the game. If you own one Silence template, this is where it goes.
-
Rib + Diamond
The highest-legibility option. Diamond's pale cyan gives the ribcage maximum separation from the dark base, so the pattern still reads at distance and in low light — the usual failure case for netherite trims.
-
Eye + Emerald
Deep green on black, and thematically the closest match on the list: Eye comes from the stronghold and emerald pushes it toward an ender palette rather than a generic dark set.
-
Spire + Gold
The warm counter-pick. Gold is the one material that makes netherite look ceremonial instead of menacing, and Spire's vertical lines stretch the silhouette.
-
Snout + Resin
Amber on black, using the 1.21.4 resin material. Newer and rarer to see on a server than any of the above, which is most of the appeal.
Best trim material pairings
- amethyst on Silence for Void Royal
- gold on Ward for Royal Guard
- emerald on Eye for an End portal keeper set
